Careful Preparation

I was delighted to participate as a member of the jury (of the first meal test) in the 17th edition of the “Nourrir sa santé” festival (word by word by “Feeding Your Health”) in Brides-les-Bains in the French Alps. Yep anything can happen! After the fashion, the cooking & dietetics (#sorrynotsorry)! Brides-les-Bains as a spa town is leader in weight loss in France.

We are three in the jury and there are three teams of a candidate with a Chef. 45 minutes is the allotted time to design and implement a dietary first meal from a selection of given ingredients (first pictures of the post). The atmosphere is very cool and the challenge is more to share than to win.

David Hamon, the sponsor of this 17th edition and Chief Thalasso Serge Blanco in Hendaye. Sébastien Roux, the Chef of the Hotel du Golf. And Sonia Ezgulian, the guest of honor of the festival, cook and former restaurateur.

And The Winner is …

With the other two members of the jury, I taste every dishes very different from each other, but all delicious. 

And the winning team is composed of the candidate and the Chef Sébastien Roux (first image on the photo montage below) with a graphic plate with subtle flavors.

Why Choosing To Do Dietary Cooking?

I asked Thierry Galais, a consultant, trainer in healthy cooking, teacher at lycée Saint-Yvy de Pontivy (« art de la cuisine allégée » section) and author of Cuisiner aux algues (Cooking with Seaweed, Auzou Philippe éditions), why he chose dietetic cuisne.


As I ate several times at the Hôtel du Golf, I wanted to know more about the cuisine process of the Chef Sébastien Roux. Its dietary dishes are as beautiful as good!

At a lunch in the terrace of the Cèdres restaurant of the Grand Hotel des Thermes overlooking the gardens and the mountains, I enjoy the healthy cuisine of the Chef Thierry Giannini.

The Committed Poetic Exhibition

Bubbly Martine Camillieri

The former Art Director in advertising is today a committed “repented” artist “but with humor! (I quote) who makes us reflect on our relationship with food, junk food, food processing and industrial products, and environmental impact.

I really liked in her book “Wild Food” (Les éditions de l’épure), her puns illustrated with simple and obvious pictures almost childish, with a double meaning.

Martine has also “hallucinations” when she hits the road by truck across Europe for two months and more. And she transforms mere pebbles in food and food in pebbles. A corrosive deliciously enjoyable work! A bit Dada …

Interior Decoration: How To Refresh A Bedroom

Do you need to renew your interior?

With spring, you get the urge for a more clear and ventilated space. More than ever my motto remains “Less is more“. Here are some simple tips to refresh a bedroom, without transforming your home in a construction site. 

We begin by changing the position of the bed (yes you can move it!). Test the new direction one night, to check if you sleep as well as before. No need to change the direction, if it gives you nightmares! Lol! Photo 1: bed covered with a Brazilian macramé bedspread.

Then we empty “everything”. For example, if you have any pictures on the walls. Take them off the walls to see how it looks without, or placing them otherwise (on the floor for the large frames like in an art gallery). Or by changing them with new frames, photos, paintings … Photo 3 and the last photo of this post: the stunning drawing in Indian ink of the artist Moira Marcantei.

Do the same for the furniture and ornaments, keep only the necessary. Ideally, it should not be electronic, television and plant in a bedroom. Without falling into the ultra minimalism, when traveling, shop things useful for your home. Photo 5: on a wall, a Greek key ring against the evil eye and a leather label for a suitcase. On the last picture: African bowls for storing makeup.

Last advice, change the sheets, curtains (especially if they are dark and thick) and / or lamps. Choose light colors, light fabrics or patterns in relation to your new room. Like your clothes in your wardrobe: store and use your linens according to the seasons. Photo 2: short bathrobe for summer and white bath towel. Photo: 2, 4 and 6: play with fabrics. Here are an embroidered flower bedspread with a Brazilian macramé bedspread.

Stunning Nature

My “real” first snowshoe walk, 2:30 in the powder … We are going through a pine forest, the dream! Beautiful landscape and hike level rather easy.

Especially at the beginning when the path goes down, but on the way back to go up, the steep is harder. I focus on breathing and keep my own pace (without stopping).

We are a group of ten people, including the monitor of Raquette Evasion, with all levels and ages (from 20 to more than 70 years old). And the most enduring aren’t the youngest … as I noticed during my hike to Serra da Estrella.   

What a shock while discovering the shores of the lake! I feel like being in an unreal world and am euphoric. The photos speak for themselves. Enjoy!

A Lunch At 2732 Meters

Breathtaking Views 

I am invited by the White 1921 Courchvel, with my friend Lorène to have a lunch at Le Panoramic. This mountain restaurant is located at 2732 meters, on top of the Saulire … with views of Mont Blanc!

I am captivated by the mountains, slopes and this incredible brightness! I imagine being an eagle flying over the white tops of mountains … As we aren’t really hungry, we choose a very good steamed vegetables. Plus a chocolate ice cream for me (LOL).

I can spend the afternoon in a deck chair in the sun …
